Faridabad, 4 May – The two-day workshop on ‘Outcome based Accreditation for Undergraduate Engineering Program’ conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of YMCA University was concluded today. The workshop was conducted with the objective to further improve the quality of technical education by incorporating best practices followed in global technical education.
The valedictory function was graced by Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Dinesh Kumar. He said that such workshops are useful for inculcating quality enhancement initiatives and congratulated the department for this initiative. Addressing the session, Registrar Dr. Sanjay Sharma said that University is ready to support such initiatives to compete in the global market.
Earlier, Dr. Tilak Raj welcomed the Vice Chancellor and thanked him for providing such opportunities in the University. Workshop Coordinator Dr. Sandeep Grover presented the workshop report. All Deans, Chairpersons and other University officers were also present on the occasion.
During the workshop, Prof. Tilak Raj covered the topics like Course Outcomes – Program Outcomes mapping, Attainment of Course Outcomes and Program Outcomes Direct and Indirect Assessment tools While Dr. Rajeev Saha and Dr. Mahesh Chand presented case studies for attainment of Program Outcomes. A hand on exercises was conducted wherein participants were given the task of reviewing/framing POs, PEOs and COs for their coursework.
The workshop helped the faculty members and other officials of the University to develop an understanding about the ‘Outcome Based Education’ (OBE) which is an educational model where a student shall have to achieve a goal by the end of the educational experiences.
