Faridabad, 28 August – A three day workshop on ‘Visionary Learning Community, India’ which is one of the flagship programmes of Visionary Leaders for Manufacturing’ (VLFM) project implemented by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was inaugurated today. The workshop is being organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad.
The workshop commenced with lighting of lamp by Dr. Tilak Raj, Chairperson of the Department. The workshop is coordinated by Dr. Om Prakash Mishra and Dr. Mahesh Chand. The faculty members from various colleges affiliated to YMCA University, State Polytechnics and representatives from various industrialists are attending the workshop. The faculty members of the University, enrolled in this program, are mentored by Prof. Saideep Rathnam.
Dr. Mishra said that the objective of organizing this workshop is to bridging the skills gap between Academia and Industry through a unique teaching-learning process of classroom teaching and industrial training and to help in developing next generation Manufacturing Change Leaders that is engineering graduates. The idea behind this program is to increase efficiency and productivity of the industry and academia and to implement a concept of manufacturing that is termed as “flow”, he added.
During the workshop, the participants will be trained about flow management system and productivity improvement who in turn, train the batch of students in their respective colleges and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the areas.
